International Training Projects

Dynamis has been operating internationally since 2008. Since then, one of our teams has been involved in a very successful programme to upgrade the skills and knowledge of the clinical staff at one of the United Arab Emirates most forward-looking hospitals.
The Dynamis training programme in the international environment aims to:
- Provide training which is culturally and ethically consistent with the host environment
- Bring trainers who can share knowledge to a multinational, multicultural environment.
- Empower staff to feel safer and more professionally confident in challenging situations.
- Promote the highest level of patient safety, security and human rights
- Enable policies and procedures to be upgraded to world-class standards.
The course content can include elements of Best Practice standards from the UK, for example using the syllabus from the NHS Promoting Safe and Therapeutic Services training programme. For organisations seeking JCIA Accreditation our training can focus on compliance with the Joint Commission Guidance on Seclusion and Restraint. In this way, each course is a highly specialised, carefully designed Physical Restraint training syllabus which can help healthcare staff and their managers to understand how to deal with the problems of aggression and violence in THEIR OWN environment.
On successful completion of the course, staff are eligible to recieve a BTEC Level 2 vocational qualification from Edexcel, the largest British educational awarding body, bringing their professional practice up to world-leading standards.
“Our hospital is currently engaged in an internationally-recognised hospital accrediation programme, and our hope is that providing this level of certified training to the staff in dealing with safety issues will help us to reach the highest standards of risk management and patient safety. This training from Dynamis has been a great success”.
Clinical Resources Manager, 400-bed hospital, United Arab Emirates.
Staff from hospital frontline services - typically the Accident & Emergency teams and the Psychiatric teams - sometimes face very challenging behaviour from their patients and regularly encounter aggression, confrontation and violence. A key realisation in terms of controlling risks for patients with substance-misuse or mental-health problems is that they often present first to Accident & Emergency staff and are sometimes then referred to a psychiatric team for care and assessment.
These two teams often deal with the same patients, often under highly difficult and dangerous circumstances and can not always depend on the presence or intervention of security staff or police officers to assist in controlling the situation. Enablement and empowerment for the staff, in a way that allows them to carry out their professional duties with humanity and dignity, is clearly called for.
Therefore, our course is designed to be suitable for staff in psychiatry and accident & emergency environments such as nurses, doctors, care assistants, orderlies, managers, security staff, police officers and any other members of staff whose job roles may put them in challenging situations where violence or aggression may be present.
The course itself consists of a core 3-day programme of intensive training in the legal, ethical, best practice approaches to physical restraint and personal safety. Furthermore, the staff are introduced to appropriate methods of physically controlling potentially violent patients in order to safely stop them from damaging themselves or other people around them providing the staff with methods of safe-holding, protection and intervention which are proven to be effective.
“This training is incredibly important for us, because it allows us as medical professionals the confidence and the ability to stay safe and to keep the patient safe when they are acting in ways which could be harmful”. - Doctor Gamal, A&E specialist, UAE.
Our firm continues to expand its range of services and offers specialist advice for healthcare facilities in the middle east who are seeking best-practice knowledge in the field of restraint and seclusion.
